Rhetoric in the Workplace
Before I came to college, I worked in Germany for a year as an intern to experience what its like to be a mechanical engineer. I had to submit a resume to try and get accepted, this required showing why I should be chosen for the internship and what my skills are to try and prove that I will be the most successful person for the internship. After getting accepted I also had to write a two page report every month to explain what I have learned, what I'm not so sure about, and in general what I had accomplished that month, these had to be very accurate or my instructor there would make you write it again. Looking back at these I realized that I had used rhetoric to try and show everything I had accomplished. Also learning about these new uses of rhetoric I see that there were also many areas of my writing that could have been improved, which I will certainly use in the future, once I finish college and start applying for work. This could definitely be very helpful to use in the workplace so that I can prove what I can do in my field of work, and try and win customers over in whatever workplace I end up in.
