Everyone's an Author, chapter 3. Shitty First Drafts
After reading the Shitty First Drafts I was amazed at what the author had to say. When i would write essays I always spent a ridiculous amount of time on writing a first draft, and afterwards write the essay and be done. I realized now from the reading that its really not about perfecting your writing until your actually writing the final draft of the essay. The author mentions that the whole point of the first draft is just getting the ideas to flow so you can get to a better end result, instead of just sitting trying to think of one specific topic and then writing on and on about a specific idea that can only be delved into with so much detail. Writing has never been one of my strong subjects so this may actually help to improve my writing. The reading from chapter 3 also mentioned these ideas and how the process of making a final draft is a lot more then just the two steps I had always thought were needed. It mentions even writing up to three or four drafts before working on your final draft, or to just do a free writing to get some solid ideas for a paper to write about. I think taking these ideas and applying this to my next essay could greatly improve the scores I get on writing assignments instead of just turning in a second draft, or what I previously thought was my final draft. Thinking about it, it may even take less time to write three or four drafts before creating a final draft, just because I wont constantly be stuck with writers block, instead I can just focus on just writing and over the course of writing slowly improve the work, instead of straight from the start trying to perfect a writing, and then being lost for ideas.

Chapter 1 and 2, Everyone's an Author
In the first two chapters, the main theme is about Rhetorical wording. It talks about the ways that it can be used, and how powerful the use of Rhetoric is. These chapters were very influential and shed new light on the use of Rhetorical structures. It quotes that human issues can only be dealt with words or war, and it shows many examples on how Rhetoric can be used to deal with issues peacefully. This amazed me at how effective this type of speech or writing is, one that i had never thought about using when writing essays for class and other subjects. I'm also impressed how rhetoric is all around us and used every day even though I had really never payed much attention to it. I think that if I also study further into the use of Rhetoric it definitely be a powerful tool to be used on essays for all of my classes, and then also when I continue a career in my major. Its definitely an interesting topic that I hope the book continues to delve deeper into this subject. This book in my opinion is very well thought out from what I read. It explores themes in an interesting way that also, strangely enough, makes it extremely fun to read. The quotes that the book uses too are extremely useful to help understand the subject and at explaining the thoughts of the authors to create an easier reading experience.
